Bergen is a city and county in Vestland fylke also known as the capital of Vestland. The city is located on the west coast of Norway and is surrounded by “The seven hills”. During history Bergen has played a large part as an international trade and maritime city and represented Norway as capital during the great reign of Norway. Bergen is the second largest city of Norway and is a very modern and versatile city. Bergen host different interesting museums and offers a vibrant city life. From august and the rest of autumn the museum holds of the most impressive Munch exhibitions, definitely worth a visit. Infrastructure in Bergen

Bybanen, the light rail of Bergen, runs every 5 minutes during rush hour and frequently the rest of the day. The suburb areas of Bergen are best reached by bus. The buslines has just as frequently departures which makes it easy to get from one part of the city to another.

Bergen’s geography
The municipality of Bergen was 283,929 and the metropolitan region contained around 420,000 inhabitants (end of 2019) making Bergen the second largest city in Norway. Bergen is also referred to as “the city of seven mountains” due to its location surrounded of mountains. The landscape is only partly lowlands and both Bergen and its boroughs are encircled by mountains and sea (Byfjorden). Half of the city is placed at least 160 meter above the sea.
