About Bergenhus

Bergenhus is known as the ‘heart of the Fjords’, the second largest neighbourhood in Norway with the charm and character of a small village. The idyllic harbour with colorful wooden houses and the narrow cobblestone alleys attract many visitors for the natural charm. The harbour in Bergen is even listed on the UNESCO world heritage list, reminding of the time in history when Bergen was an important harbour city. Today, this area is home to galleries, cafés and restaurants, a meeting point for locals and visitors. The famous fish market is located close to the harbour and is Norway's most visited outdoors market for food, souvenirs and handmade goods. Food interested visitors have many reason to visit Bergen, announced as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, where fish and shellfish has the central focus.
