About Laksevåg
This area is a popular residential area and home to several popular attractions. Laksevåg attracts locals and visitors for a hike on ‘Gravdalsfjellet’ mountain, famous for its peak view, a 360 uninterrupted sight of the surroundings. The area is also home to Damsgård Country Mansion, the Rococco building from the 1800s that is home to the Bergen City Museum. The beautiful garden outside the mansion is recreated to illustrate the design from the 1780s. Visitors can take a guided tour most days of the week to experience some of Bergens most important history. For yet another famous trekking route, visit ‘Lydehorn’, one of Bergens seven mountains, with 396 meters above sea level.
Laksevåg Geography
Located in the western part of Bergen, Laksevåg is home to around 40,000 people, making it the 5th largest area by population. The area was merged with the city of Bergen in 1972, and after Laksevåg was named as an independent borough in 2000. Laksevåg included villages such as Alvøen, Bjørndal, Drotningsvik, Håkonshella and Loddefjord. The mountain ‘Gravdalsfjellet’ in the area Gravdal, the eastern parts of Laksevåg, peaks at 351 meters.
